somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond
e. e. cummings, 1894 - 1962 somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond any experience, your eyes have their silence: in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me, or which i cannot touch because they are too near your slightest look easily will unclose me though i have closed myself as fingers, you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens (touching skilfully, mysteriously)her first rose or if your wish be to close me,i and my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly, as when the heart of this flower imagines the snow carefully everywhere descending; nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals the power of your intense fragility:whose texture compels me with the colour of its countries, rendering death and forever with each breathing (i do not know what it is about you that closes and opens;only something in me understands the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses) nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands |

The Moment
The moment when, after many years of hard work and a long voyage you stand in the centre of your room, house, half-acre, square mile, island, country, knowing at last how you got there, and say, I own this, is the same moment when the trees unloose their soft arms from around you, the birds take back their language, the cliffs fissure and collapse, the air moves back from you like a wave and you can't breathe. No, they whisper. You own nothing. You were a visitor, time after time climbing the hill, planting the flag, proclaiming. We never belonged to you. You never found us. It was always the other way round. -- Margaret Atwood |
"Never Again"
never again will i be a fool that falls for your lies never again will i put my trust in your hands never again will i have so much shame never again will i go through so much pain i can stand on my own i will stand on my own it took me awhile but now i know that you took me as one big joke i was blind but now i see i see that you could never love me you were my first love and my first heart break deep down inside i still love you but i cant be with you not now not later not ever Author: Brittany M. http://www.scrapbook.com/poems/doc/43001.html |
Excepts from 50 Things I Will Never Do

- Jump out of a perfectly good airplane. Not going to do it.
- Eat worms. Ewwww
- Go on the game show Survivor. That is not even remotely something I would do. (I guess you think I am pretty boring about now. Don’t care.)
- Wrestle with a crocodile. Um why? Why would anyone want to?
- Eat monkey brains. I saw this on one of the Indiana Jones movies, and I am really not that adventurous.
- Work in a chicken processing plant. Enough said.
- Stay the night in a creepy haunted house.
- Swim with sharks. I know there are a lot of thrill seekers out there, but I’m really not one of them.
- Watch anymore scary movies. Not-going-to-do-it. I have nightmares for months, when I can even fall asleep.
- Tightrope walking. Not even if it is only a few feet off the ground.
- Run in a marathon. I love to speed walk but not a fan of running. I have been known to say, “I’m not running unless someone is chasing me.”
- Climb a ridiculously tall mountain. I know there are those that love this challenge, but I like breathing and all of my fingers and toes.
- Make everyone else more important than myself. We are equally important.
- Tell someone they weren’t talented. That’s just mean and everyone is talented at something.
- Roller coaster. Hate them, they make my stomach hurt horribly.
- Swim in a lake. I don’t like swimming in any water that I can’t see into. Just creepy.
- Hitch Hike. I’ve seen way too many movies that didn’t end well for the hitch hiker.
- Bungee jump. I was once told it felt like every bone was jerked out of the socket. Yeah like that is something I want to feel.
An Anti-Bucket List Declaration
I declare to never eat split pea soup, nor any dish involving mashed peas of any kind.
I will never go to the dentist without brushing my teeth to ensure the freshest of breath.
I will never own a bird. Think dive-bombing seagulls on a beach destroying my braided hair.
I will never sing opera or be a movie star; I just don’t have the talent.
I will never soar to outer space as I prefer the comfort of this place we call Earth.
I will never live in New York City or any major city for that matter. I need mountains, bodies of water, and clean air.
I declare to never visit a tanning salon or purposefully lay out in the sun. Melanoma scares me to death.
I will never enter into an agreement without keeping my promise to fulfill my obligations.
I will never be angry enough that I do not forgive and forget for forgiveness shows love and respect.
I will never make a person feel less than human by judging his race, color, age, or religion.
I will never be embarrassed for correcting your grammar. I want you to sound like an intelligent individual.
I will never live without reading and writing for they drive my passion and help me to explore the world in which I live.
